Go here

And Listen let the music take over. Let it bring forth the frenzied conductor inside your soul. Put down your pens, pencils and keyboards - shut off your WIPs and stop writing.

BE the music.

FEEL the music.

Fall in LOVE with the music.

Then buy it.

That is all.

(oh, and mail me your tea)

I'm not quite in a Christmas mood, thanks. I've been listening intently to Kansas' "Masque" album lately. I love when you can just sit and actively let the music carry you away.

That's what this music does for me - it carries me away. Granted, it's a bit early for Christmas music. The concert isn't until Dec. 1st, but I'm buying the new stuff now so I'll have it for December :)

Somebody once pointed out, "Any band named after a place? Terrible."

So I stopped to think about it.

America?
Europe?
Asia?
Kansas?
Alabama?

After that, all the songs sort of pile up in my head and I have to go lie down until I feel better.

I listen to Trans-Siberian all year 'round. But I will shamelessly admit that I ALSO listen to "Twisted Sister's Twisted Christmas" all year round too, so sue me. :P

I like watching Miracle on 34th Street in the middle of the summer.

The middle of summer is when I put in The Long, Hot Summer and To Kill A Mockingbird.

Might I point out that Trans-SIBERIAN is a place?

And America had some very nice acoustic songs.

Asia had a nice sound.

And I still love The Final Countdown by Europe.

Alabama. Pfft!

But Kansas? I will admit they went horribly wrong sometime around "Dust in the Wind," but prior to that they were an excellent prog rock. I'll compare "Masque" to any great rock album.

Masque to Diamond Dogs, by David Bowie?

Compared to Paranoid, by Black Sabbath?

Houses of the Holy, by Led Zeppelin?

Lou Reed? :)

And Trans-Siberian isn't a place. Silly. It's in "transit" to Siberia. It's in between. Hah! :D

"The Final Countdown" is one of the greatest 80's songs ever, but that doesn't mean I'd do anything more than buy the song once off Napster.

I wish I could have expressed loathing and contempt for the Eagles in my list, but they aren't named after a place, alas. But still. Blechchhh.

I love how a post about Christmas music can cause all this strife.

Personally, I prefer David Live! to Diamond Dogs.

And I'm not a much of a Lou Reed fan, I much prefer John Cale, another alum of the Velvet Underground.

But yeah, I'd put Masque out there as one of those profound albums, great guitar work, excellent rhythms, just fun stuff.

Anyhow, I have to figure out where I put my copy of Trans-Siberian now.

(it annoys me no end that I can't edit my posts once I've submitted them. Stupid typos.)

Well, personally I prefer Bowie's Heathen album, but I figured I'd go with the popular "best Bowie" album... :)

I'm really wanting a Tom Petty CD for whatever reason.
